I Know what you're thinking by now; You're probably wondering why i look so beautiful! Well, The Reason why i look so flawless today didn't just happen in one night. it's mainly because of my family's genes! Speaking of which, i'd have thank all my ancestors! Us, the cob family, developed from a long long time ago....
Our popularity truly rose from america. We were the most important cultivated plant in ancient times in America. We grew everywhere from southern North Dakota and both sides of the lower St. Lawrence Valley southward to northern Argentina and Chile! We even extended westward from the middle of Kansas, nebraska, and mexico to the area northward of Arizona, New Mexico and southern Colorado! In fact, we were also an important crop in the high valleys of the Andes in South America.
Hey, here you are, Back in Time! I'm Cobert, one of the first ancestors of the cob family. We are in cuba, in the year 1492, at my Birthplace. Even though some of my even earlier cousins were said to be found in central Mexico 7000 years ago, 1492 was the year the great Human explorer, Christopher Columbus, discovered and brought us to Europe.
In the 1880's, over 62 million acres of us have been planted in the united states. We expanded and grew even more rapidly. By 1900, we had conquered around 95 million acres; by 1910, we were already over 100 million acres.
Soon after, in Europe, we quickly grew from a garden variety to a valuable food crop. Within a few years, we spread throughout France, Italy, and all of southeastern Europe and northern Africa. By 1575, we were making our way into western China, and we had become vital in the Philippines and the East Indies.
Because of the human technological advances in the early 1940's, they were able to plant and harvest us while using much less space. By 1979, we were all squeezed into a small space; an average of 109.5 bushels per acre. Therefore, since the year 2000, 40% of our whole species now grow in the united states!
