I feel proud to say that we are considered as humanity's greatest agronomic achievement! We are the most produced crop in the world and also the most widespread crop, planted just about everywhere. despite our will, we have been the humans' most vital source of food.
Because of this, the United States currently leads the world in our consumption.... Each year, the average american will consume more than 1500 pounds of corn, which breaks down to an astonishing four pounds per day! do you know how many of my friends have died to Americans?!
Communities all over the world love us! One indian woman even personally told me once that corn allows them to live at peace, and that we were their form of food security. i also love the fact that we are linked to survival! When humans are having rough economic times or in face of natural disasters, they will always rely on us to feed them.
Other than that, Many cultures in the world have unfortunately Depended on us for their survival about 20 percent of the US-produced corn is exported , so we now have the reputation as an international breadbasket...I'm not yet sure that i like that nickname!
Because we are a hardy and versatile family, we have been harvested and planted more frequently than ever before. Actually, i'd be happy to accept an oscar, because we are truly the cast in the lead role of the US agricultural success. i am simply ecstatic to announce that today, we make up 90 percent of the grain produced in america; A true success story.
We are also considered one of the healthiest foods in the world and not a single bit of our poor corpses are wasted. (I don't even get to give a proper burial to my friends!) Many members of our family were sadly dismembered before they died. our husks are traditionally used in making tamales, our kernels are ground into food, our stalks become animal food and even our silks are used for medicinal teas!
